SEPTEMBER 23 - 24TH ANNUAL CMSE EXHIBITS STATUS
Dear CMSE Exhibitors and Potential Exhibitors ,
I hope this email finds you well. It’s hard to believe it’s been over 6 months since a Coronavirus pandemic was declared.
Out of concern for the health and safety of all participants amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the 24th Annual CMSE Symposium and Exhibition which was scheduled for April 21-23, 2020 in Los Angeles, CA, was cancelled. Just eight months ago the world was a different place and we were planning to hold CMSE 2021 at LAX in CA at the Four Points hotel. In February 2020, we had a good number of people interested and we anticipated a full house of speakers and exhibitors. That of course did not happen due to the pandemic, but CMSE is on track for 2021 and we are planning to have a live event with a virtual overlay. If we find out in the next couple of months a live conference is not permitted then we will go all virtual, but I believe there is value in meeting in-person and spending a couple of days together talking and thinking about the reliability of components used in military and space systems. We’ll hope for the best but plan for the alternative.
With that being said, I am writing to ask, are you able to exhibit at this year’s CMSE 2021? Please let us know of your intentions at this point in time:
Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing you virtually or in person. Please feel free to review the program we intended for 2020 here: https://www.tjgreenllc.com/cmse/2020-advance-program/?mc_cid=6806115869&mc_eid=[UNIQID] and here is a link to the CMSE homepage where we have updated the call for presentations to include a few new topics and we revised the CMSE image for the 2021 event: https://www.tjgreenllc.com/cmse/ .
Kind regards and stay safe,
Tom

OMMIC AFTER LOCKDOWN
Dear customers, suppliers and partners,
After a two month lockdown, we thought it was time to give you some update on our activities, so here is a sneak preview of the upcoming weeks.
PRODUCTION BACK ON TRACK
In March, we have decided to drastically reduce the number of employees at OMMIC facility. Today, we are glad to announce that our production is gradually getting back together, with the move back to two shifts. This is of course with additional safety procedures to ensure our employees health and safety.
GaN PDK UPDATE
Our modelling team, worked remotely to update the D007IH process. Based on the positive feedback we got from our users, we have continued our work to offer similar update to our GaN/Si PDK. The update will be available in summer, just in time before the season’s holidays.
So stay tuned to find out what’s new!
ABOUT OMMIC
Created in 2000 by spinning off Philipps, OMMIC specializes in the development and manufacturing of microwave circuits. OMMIC focusses on III – V technologies (GaN, GaAs and InP) and made the strategic choice to locate all its activities in France, on the historic site of Limeil-Brévannes, investing heavily in research. MAY 25 - AGILE MICROWAVE TECHNOLOGY NEW PRODUCT RELEASE
MAY 13 - OMMIC ANNOUNCES NEW D007IH PDK RELEASE Addition and improvement of our D007IH PDK
For the past weeks, we have been focusing our communicating on GaN technology. Whilst GaN process is very versatile, there are still some applications where GaAs mHEMTs are needed. This is why, our foundry team has been extensively working on upgrading the PDK and we believe this new release will bring welcoming changes for designers.
GOING TOWARD SPACE QUALIFICATIOND007IH is currently being thoroughly screened in the frame of its space evaluation. Based on the latest measurements, the definition of the channel temperature to be used in reliability calculations has been updated. The dissipated power being usually small with D007IH, we expect the impact of this change to be rather low.
GOING TO HIGHER FREQUENCIESWe know this process is very popular with E-band and higher frequencies. This is why, we added the possibility to use 70 µm substrate. With it, the capacitance to ground equation has been updated to take into account this new possibility. The value for 100 μm substrate is also slightly changed.
GOING TOWARD CLARITYThe installation files for the ADS & AWR Design Kits are now located in two dedicated directories (D007IH_ADS_DK and D007IH_AWR_DK). This is to avoid confusion between the design manual that is provided with the libraries to be installed in the simulation packages.
CHANGE IN THE DESIGN RULES In order to improve customer’s designs, we have decided to request systematic presence of TIN mask layer on pads and via holes.
ADS 2020 SUPPORT AND UPDATED MODELS The D007IH is now valid for ADS2020U2 (Windows and Linux). It is also compatible with ADS2016, but some new features are not supported.
Other important changes are:
– The Small Signal and large signal models have been updated
– The Noise model has been updated and is integrated inside the small signal model only
– Capacitance to ground equation has been updated for all devices (PADs, FETs, Diodes…)
– SiN + SiO2 MIM capacitor model has been adjusted, EM substrates have been updated to be consistent
– The via hole model has been updated
– Circle representing the via coupling zone has been added to the layout of the via-hole
– EM substrates: derived layers have been updated for the via-hole when wafer thickness is 70 um
– DRC tool has been updated
– Layer binding has been updated
– Layermap.map has been updated to export LVS layers
– LVS rules have been integrated for device recognition and special layers have been added to some devices (sf, langl, inl, bel)
– Layer names and GDS numbers have been updated
The full change log can be downloaded with the design manual and PDK in our secure area.
BETTER COMMUNICATION We have been happy to support you and your questions so far. To keep doing it in the best conditions, we have created a new grouped email address: dksupport@ommic.com. Please do not hesitate using it for every question regarding device models, lay-out rules, design manuals, ADS or AWR design kits, process information, PCM guarantees or design guidelines. Once you design is good and finish, please keep sending it to the mapping team (mapping@ommic.com) for faster DRC report or new foundry runs.
We look forward to see your project development.

MAY 7 -AUREL MICROELECTRONICS TO RESUME ALL ACTIVITIES
Dear Partner,
We’re about to notice you that starting from today, Monday 4th of May, Aurel Microelectronics will carry out regulatory all internal activities and all deliveries.
It will be taken all actions for the safety of employees and workers like masks/gloves, requested distances , sanitation of workplace, Smart Working, higher turnover for all workers.
Aurel strongly recommends to all partners to be more and more sensitive to the problem of lead time of all materials, especially for all custom projects.
It will be not possible anymore to find available material if not previously planned, as it has been noticed a minimum lead time of 16/17 weeks, where there are not other deeper problematic.
It's essential to plan with customers, all requests for this 2020, otherwise Aurel will not be in a position to satisfy their needs with the old standard lead times we used to provide.
Furthermore, always connected to the current market conditions, it has been faced an increased costs of all materials and transport costs.
Aurel requests to advise all customers about that and to previously analyze it, case by case, with a dedicated offer. Always for those reasons, It will be released soon a new price list 2020 for the standard wireless modules.
In case of urgent need you’re pleased to get in touch with your company contact by means of e-mail and/or mobile phone.

MARCH 26 - CMSE Conference Offers Virtual Learning Courses
CMSE announced cancellation of its 24th Annual Components for Military & Space Electronics Conference & Exhibition that was scheduled for April 21-23, 2020 at Four Points by Sheraton (LAX) Los Angeles, California. The conference will be postponed for the next year April 20-22, 2021. The organizing committee decided to offer several virtual learning courses to support working on remote.
“With all that is currently going on in the world, business is nothing but usual. Companies are trying to figure out the best way to continue working with remote environments and we at TJ Green Associates, LLC. are no different.
As many of you know we have had to cancel our annual CMSE conference in LA, as well as our public training courses in March and April. In response to this we have decided to create several virtual courses to ensure we can still provide the high quality training that people are used to without the need to travel. These courses will span over 3 or 4 days per week with a 2-hour training session each day. We have structured the courses this way to reduce the impact on your day-to-day schedule and to increase your ability to absorb the information. All courses will include digital copies of the notes that are typically provided in print and will be ran on a GoToMeeting platform. In the event you can not attend a session, we will provide you with a link to the recording of the missed session. You can see the full list of courses at the bottom of this email.
I want to thank everyone for their continued support in this time and all the best health. Please reach out with ANY questions and I look forward to our virtual training.”

MARCH 24 -STATUS OF OMMIC-WE'RE STILL OPEN

2 Chemin du Moulin 94450 Limeil-Brévannes, France
Subject : OMMIC information note related to COVID-19
Tuesday the 24th of March 2020
Dear OMMIC Customer, Suppliers, Partners,
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been spreading globally for a few weeks now and we would like to update you on the current situation at OMMIC.
We have been in contact with many of you to inform you that your wafers are safe in the fab, with few impacts so far. Indeed, last week, we have been focussing on protecting our employees and all suppliers on site. We have worked on business continuity procedures and have activated it. Among it, we can highlight we have :
▪ Apply strict rules for hygiene with immediate sanitizing and social distancing.
▪ Cancel all employee travels and non-critical visits
▪ Put in place home office to all function whenever possible
Following the latest development in France, we have taken additional safety measures by applying a partial shutdown of our activities. This means we have reduced the number of employees on site to a minimum level in order to contain the virus spread, while maintaining core deliveries and site safety.
We are putting all efforts to secure timely deliveries, but we are depending on worldwide limitations related to transportation and the evolution of the local politics regarding confinement.
The COVID-19 has become a global crisis and a terrible challenge for us. We count on your support and your understanding in this difficult situation. With it, we are confident we will continue to timely supply state-of-the-art GaN and GaAs products and services, even in this difficult time.
Meanwhile, OMMIC sales team (local and corporate) continue to function normally and will be providing you all the support needed. Please do not hesitate getting back to us for any request on this matter.
Many thanks

MARCH 14 - CIRTEK CORONA VIRUS STATUS WE'RE OKAY
Dear Valued Customers,
As of 14 Mar 2020, Cirtek is still 100% on attendance and COVID19 FREE!!!! There is Nobody in Cirtek reported under Observation or under monitoring per our HRD report.
Additionally, latest reports indicates people residing metro manila working outside the region are exempted from the community quarantine control or the curfew from 8Pm to 5AM the metro manila mayors has released today that will take effect on March 15 !! They are allowed in and out of the region if they can present COE or company ID.
Transport of goods and products from Domestic and International flights intended for manufacturing are still open, government expect some delays in the delivery bec of the controls!!
As explained in the below message that i released yesterday, there is NO impact to Cirtek operations this community quarantine or curfew hours in metro manila.
Dear Valued Partners,
With increasing confirmed cases of COVID19 patients in the Philippines and with the reported resolution from the government to implement community quarantine in metro manila area that will be in effect by March 15,2020, However, we would like to clarify that this community quarantine is still subject to certain implementing rules and guidelines which we expect to be released anytime this week. For everyone's information, Cirtek is located in the Province of Laguna which is outside Mero Manila area.
Based from latest inputs from our HRD, The total number of Cirtek Employees that are from Metro Manila is 20% , however living or residing in Metro Manila area per se is only 10%, this means the other 50% of these are either living with the relatives in Laguna area or living/staying at a boarding house. And of this 10%, we have identified only 5.8% are direct labor ( directly involve in the day to day manufacturing) which can be augmented by over time in the absence of these operators should a complete lock down is implemented.
Nonetheless, We have our internal controls and guidelines how to prevent this pandemic from impacting our operations in addition to the the preliminary regulation the government has provided with the announcement of the community quarantine is concerned;
1. Transportation in and out of metro still open
2. Domestic cargo shipment are exempt from the travel restrictions
3. Travel restriction are only applicable to individuals but not cargoes - This is being clarified by our own ( CIRTEK) brokers and carriers . Since Cirtek arrangement with the majority of our customers are Ex-Works, We solicit your help to please check your brokers of their inputs. We will continue to provide you updates as we get solid information from our carriers.
Cirtek has implemented our own internal controls to safeguard our employees, suppliers and our customers such as ;
a) Scanning employees @ the entrance or before they exit shuttle, including visitors with prior approval
b) With immediate effect, we will engage our customers both local and foreign reps as well as suppliers through online and digital platforms; conference calls for meetings using ZOOM, WEBEX OR SKYPE or other applicable media that is acceptable to both parties. Therefore, we do not recommend any face to face meeting at this time. However, If a face-to-face meeting is critical to address a concern, we will be requesting our customers to answer a simple screening questionnaire prior to the meeting. Please be informed that request for the visit will need approval from our health and safety committee. Your participation in these precautionary measures is crucial to help us continue providing service and solutions to our customers. Please see attached, However, for places that has been affected with COVD-19 ( we believe there is none anymore at this time when the WHO already declared as PANDEMIC), please take note that there are government control in place of a quarantine for 14 days for foreign visitors.
